1. Co-Design Visioning Workshop:

Graphic visions of the future life and environment of a place as preferred by the community.

Preparation to guide the community in hosting a one-day public workshop usually held on a Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.

Conducting facilitating and illustrating the Co-Design Visioning Workshop. Participants envision the future life of the place after improvements to suit their preferences. Workshop stages include:

1. Listing future daily activities and special events to describe the preferred round of life.

2. Site walk to note the qualities of the place that would suit the preferred activities.

3. Graphic colour images of the future activities and scenes, drawn by Co-Design architect/artists at the dictation of groups of participants.

4. Rating of the features of the drawings by all the participants.

Open house displays conducted by the community in commercial and institutional locations and at community meetings.

Report of the visioning with drawings in colour, and summary of the responses and ratings. The drawings on CD are provided to the community for use in promoting the social organization of events and advertising the future of the area to potential investors.

2. Co-Design Charette Program:

Graphic visions of the future life and environment of a place as preferred by the community with concept plans prepared with the creative involvement of the community to realize the visions.

Visioning workshop as described above followed by 2 design charettes each of half day duration usually held on Sunday afternoons at least 2 weeks apart:

Design charette for the parts of the area sketched at the direction of the public including local architects and planners, owners, managers, community leaders and Members of Council and youth.

Open house displays conducted by the community to get response to the ideas.

Design charette for the area sketched at the direction of the public, with the same participants and open to newcomers, to bring the parts of the plan together into a plan for the whole area.

Open house displays conducted by the community.

Report of the charettes with drawings in colour and a summary of the responses and ratings. The drawings on CD are provided to the community for use in promoting the plan.

3. Co-Design Resource Team Session:

Graphic visions of the future life and environment of a place as preferred by the community with strategies developed with the community for the economic, organizational and sustainable planning of the area.

Visioning workshop as described above, usually held on a Saturday, followed on Monday evening, Tuesday and Wednesday by:

Main street resource team session, 2.5 days of community consultation and focus group studies with Co-Design specialists in the areas of marketing, economics, community organization, urban design, and planning legislation.

Report of the visioning and main street resource team sessions with drawings of the visioning in colour, and summary of responses and ratings, and summary of Co-Design Resource Team Sessions, the discussions and focus group studies and recommended strategies and actions. The drawings on CD are provided to the community for use in promoting the social organization of events and advertising the future of the area to potential investors.

4. Community Values Measure:

A planning tool created by the community to define values that the community holds in common and to measure the degree of support that various development proposals give to community values.

Visioning workshop as described above followed 4 weeks later with a one-day workshop and image survey.

Community values measure half-day workshop to create and demonstrate the application of the measure with members of the community including planners in economic development, social and physical design, merchants, youth and members of Council.

Preferred activity image survey half-day public workshop and survey to rate the values and the images that developed from the visioning and the community values workshop.

Report of the community values measure with drawings of the visioning and the image survey in colour,with their community ratings, the community values measure with examples of its application to development proposals.
